North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult Services

The Division of Aging and Adult Services is part of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

The Older Americans Act specified that a state agency shall be identified to be responsible for the administration of Older Americans Act funded services. The Division of Aging and Adult Services performs this service in North Carolina. The Division of Aging and Adult Services also has a state mandate to develop long term public policy on aging and long-term care. Therefore, the Division "seeks to develop a unified social and health services system that provides consumers with a full range of service options along with a continuum of in-home, community based, and out-of-home care".

The Division is organized into four sections. They are:

  • Budget, Planning and Information Systems
  • Adult Services
  • Elder Rights
  • Service Operations

The Division utilizes the state's seventeen Area Agencies on Aging to administer the programs and services.
