Advisory Council on Aging

The Triangle J Advisory Council on Aging makes recommendations to the Triangle J Council of Governments Board of Delegates and the Triangle J Area Agency on Aging related to the following items:

  • development and administration of the Area Plan

  • public meetings on aging matters

  • community policies, programs and actions which affect older persons in the region (Chatham, Durham, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Orange, and Wake counties)

The Older Americans Act requires all seventeen Area Agencies in North Carolina to have an Advisory Council on Aging.

In Region J, all Region J's N.C. Senior Tar Heel Legislature Delegates and Alternates are encouraged to become Advisory Council members. This relationship keeps the Advisory Council informed of NCSTHL issues and helps the NCSTHL delegates to understand the issues thought important by the Advisory Council. Triangle J Area Agency on Aging supports the efforts of the N.C. Senior Tar Heel Legislature and feels that the Advisory Council is an effective way to communicate needs and coordinate efforts.

In Region J, all local Aging Services Providers are invited to sit in on the Advisory Council meeting. They are given the information packets and are encouraged to participate.

For more information on the Triangle J Advisory Council on Aging, contact Triangle J Area Agency on Aging's Director, Joan Pellettier.
