Senior Health Insurance Information Program

North Carolina understands that health insurance and related issues can be very confusing and intimidating. The NC Department of Insurance (1-800-443-9354) operates the Seniors Health Insurance Information Program(SHIIP) (919-807-6900) to help older adults and family caregivers understand choices and options. They provide trained volunteers who can provide information and help walk you through applications for benefits.

The SHIIP program also offers information online on Medicare and the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Program.
