Part of staying healthy is to properly take medications, when prescribed. Prescription drugs and co-payments for prescription drugs are a large out-of-pocket expense for many older adults. Some seniors don't take their medicines, as prescribed, due to the high cost. This has the potential to impact health.
There is some help available. And, there are many avenues to access help. Our caregiver website, Full Circle of Care, offers information on these resources as well as information on cutting costs and taking medications safely. Information includes:
- discount cards
- drug company assistance
- how to find out what you qualify for

- retired and active military
- local resources
- Medicaid
- Medicare
- membership programs
- plans outside NC
- purchasing outside the US
- Veterans
- and much more...
Intertwining lives, Intertwining services

Seniors Health Insurance Information Program
North Carolina also understands that health insurance and related issues can be very confusing and intimidating. The NC Department of Insurance (1-800-443-9354) operates the Seniors Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) (919-807-6900) to help older adults and family caregivers understand choices and options. They provide trained volunteers who can provide information and help walk you through applications for benefits.

The SHIIP program also offers information online on Medicare and the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Program.
